Rates, Categories, and General Membership
New members are entitled to the discounted dues rate of $52 for the first calendar year of membership; after the first year, these members are referred to the tiered dues structure to determine the membership category that best fits their circumstances. Joint members receive single subscriptions to all ALSCW imprints.
The ALSCW membership year is based on the calendar year (January-December). When you join as a new member, ALSCW will send you all ALSCW publications for the year up to your joining date, and continue your subscriptions on a regular basis for the remainder of the membership year.

Give a Gift Membership
Many members learn about the Association through the generosity of their friends; your gift helps to continue that tradition. Like Regular and Premium memberships, Gift memberships are based on the calendar year. To bring a new member into the fold, you can do so through the Johns Hopkins University Press website.
If you are unsure whether the intended beneficiary is already an ALSCW member, please contact Johns Hopkins University Press customer service at 1-800-548-1784, Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Eastern Time (toll-free in USA/Canada). You can also forward questions via email to jrnlcirc@jh.edu or contact ALSCW staff at alscw@cua.edu or call (202) 319-5650.
Registration Process
Johns Hopkins University Press (JHUP) is now handling membership and membership renewals for the ALSCW. JHUP will collect membership fees electronically and by post (more information can be found at the Join Now page). There are no changes to benefits or costs for members. Members will continue to receive three annual issues of Literary Imagination, online access to all back issues of Literary Imagination, access to the ALSCW online journal, Literary Matters (http://www.literarymatters.org/), and regular member communications from our D.C. headquarters regarding events, upcoming conferences, and other news.
Dues Structure
ALSCW membership is based on the calendar year (January-December) and each member receives a complete volume of our tri-quarterly journal, Literary Imagination, regardless of the date on which they join. Those joining the ALSCW in the autumn of 2022 will have a membership for 2023. To participate in an ALSCW conference, one must be a member of the ALSCW. For the 2022 ALSCW Conference, either a 2022 or a 2023 membership meets the requirement.
