Plan Your Visit - Conference 2013
Travel to the Conference
Athens, GA is served by three airports: a small one in the town itself, Hartsfield in Atlanta, and Greenville/Spartanburg in South Carolina. The Athens airport is home to SeaPort airlines, which flies to and from Nashville, TN; this airport is a short taxi ride from the hotel. Hartsfield (ATL) and Greenville/Spartanburg (GSP) are served by the major airlines. Both of these airports are roughly an hour and three quarters from Athens, rental cars ar available at both, and there is a regular shuttle service to and from Hartsfield. It is worth checking both airports, since the available airlines differ slightly and GSP sometimes offers better deals (through, e.g., Southwest). Also, since GSP is east of Athens and Atlanta, commuter and city traffic can be less of a problem.

VISTOR’S CENTER TOURS
The Visitor’s Center will organize driving and walking tours, which are given by UGA students signed up with them. The person who coordinates for these tour bookings is Natalie Mann: firstname.lastname@example.org or 542-1757
This is the airport shuttle everyone uses. Conferees can call in their reservation and pay by credit card. They drop off at all of the major hotels in Athens.
Bulldog limo offers door-to-door service, with rates starting at $185, and can be booked and paid by credit card. If enough people travel together in the car and share the cost, it’s worth it.
For the budget-conscious conference attendee, Megabus offers a service from Atlanta to Athens for as little as $1.00 to $8.00. The bus departs Atlanta from the MARTA Civic Center at 435 W Peachtree St. NW and stops in Athens at 775 East Broad St. For the return trip, the bus takes on passengers at UGA's East Campus Parking Deck and returns them to the MARTA Civic Center in Atlanta.
