Conference 2013

The nineteenth annual conference of the ALSCW will be held April 5-7 at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA and will be preceded by a reading and reception co-sponsored by The Georgia Review on the evening of April 4. Sessions will reflect the setting, known for its rich literary and musical heritage, with topics including southern literature on the world stage, the year 1863, and verse composition and the blues. The president’s reception will take place at one of Athens’ famous clubs, The Melting Point, where the blues band, Scrapomatic, featuring two-time Grammy winner Mike Mattison, will perform. Other session topics range widely from “Literary Impersonation”, to “Ovid and Ovidian Reception”, “New Criticism and Creative Practice”, and “Translating Asia”; seminars include “Diaries”, “Marginalia” and “Can You Read Poetry on a Kindle”.
